28 Oct The Feminine Way to Wear a Utility Jacket
This fall 2017 the utility jacket is THE key layering piece to have in your closet. I work with some pretty stylish ladies so I have seen this trend pulled off to perfection. Still, I never thought I’d own one of these masculine/sporty jackets myself. That is until I discovered this adorable blush colored one from H&M.
The utility jacket can be worn in many ways. But, I prefer to find ways to make it look more feminine. I’ve created some looks that prove that the utility jacket is no longer just a masculine style. The key to creating a more feminine look with this piece is to begin with, a more feminine color. I love blush. It’s soft, feminine, and a great contrast to the otherwise dark colors that are associated with fall and winter fashion. Below I’ve selected my favorite ethical utility jackets that are perfect for your fall wardrobe.
The next secret to creating a feminine look with the utility jacket is to pair it with other feminine pieces. I’ve owned this blush work skirt for years. It’s the same color as my H&M jacket and creates a soft monochromatic look when paired together. Try pairing your utility jacket with your favorite pencil skirt or A-line skirt. Another great pairing is with your favorite sweater dress.
Internal Drawstrings create a cinching effect. This is perfect for creating the illusion of curves.
I’m wearing an olive toned sweater dress from H&M’s conscious collection. It’s made with 97% organic cotton and its under $20. You can find it in grey here. Don’t be afraid to step outside your style norm. You might find, as I did, that some trends really can fit into your personal style.
